For financial advisers, the current state of play is simply a good business opportunity. Bolton Global Capital, a Boston-area financial advisory firm, recently circulated this hypothetical example in an e-mail: But similar proposals in the past have stalled in the face of opposition from the Republican-controlled Congress and the banking industry.
Treasury also is concerned that massive inflows of capital into secret accounts could become a new channel for criminal money laundering. Penney offered a disclaimer: Rothschild said the PowerPoint was subsequently revised before Penney delivered his presentation. The firm provided what it said was the final version of the talk, which this time excluded several potentially controversial passages. They were therefore removed. The launch of the wing-sail foiling catamaran the team took delivery of from Oracle Team USA, the defender, last month marks another milestone in the design race for the team.
It features hydraulics and control systems that allow the sailors greater command of the wing sail and foils that help the yacht reach speeds of over 40mph. As with all cup teams at this juncture, daggerboard-foil design will be a top priority in the development phase as Team Japan narrows down which shapes will go into production for their future AC Prospective vendors for the weekly festival, which hits Front Street every Wednesday during the summer, can attend an information session on Thursday February 4.
The meeting, from 5. Stephanie Lee from the Chamber said: Nicole Haziza aided the Premier in his correspondence with President Francois Hollande in the wake of a coordinated terrorist attack on the capital. The perpetrators opened fire at a concert by rock band The Eagles of Death Metal, as well as in several restaurants. Meanwhile, Mr Hollande was evacuated from the Stade de France sports stadium, after three bombs exploded outside the venue during a friendly football match between France and Germany.

A block of ultra-high frequency bandwidth in Bermuda has been freed up, paving the way for it to be used by mobile service providers to improve the delivery of mobile services. It was asked by the Regulatory Authority of Bermuda RAB to relinquish the frequencies and migrate its services to UHF , a lower level on the ultra-high frequency spectrum.
By doing so, it would free radio wavelengths in the MHz group that have been increasingly in demand by mobile service companies. The authority is currently carrying out the final round of public consultation regarding the assignment and licensing of high demand spectrum.
Kyle Masters, interim chief executive for the RAB, said: The Amstel Trader, which was scheduled to arrive on Monday, is travelling to Bermuda, and could arrive as early as this evening. However, anticipated heavy rain in the North Atlantic could yet affect the progress of both ships, which both endured knot winds and foot waves on their previous voyages from Bermuda to New Jersey. It creates a whole new set of challenges because you miss those selling days.
I think by Monday everything will be back to normal. It remains unclear when the vessel will resume its normal service to Bermuda. A statement released yesterday by Meyer Freight, which operates the Bermuda Islander, said: The Islander is high and dry, unable to refloat because of the shipyard mechanical failure.
The bad weather always interferes with the sailing. We know that the local agents have communicated with their clients, but that local consumers may be unaware of the circumstances that have led to the delays. By Marie-Sophie Brackstone Year They are in Bermuda to compete in the M32 races this year. They discussed their journey towards this race, what they are training for and how they got into sailing. We had the opportunity to ask questions on their influences on the sport, fitness tests and how they apply them into their training, the principles of training so their training programme is effective, SMART targets in order to achieve and maintain motivation and their training methods.
Annie and Sally gave me a better insight on what we are learning, but they also gave me real-life examples of this and how it can be applied to their athletic lives. They also showed me that women have the capability to do anything and everything.
I might not have the ambition to sail around the world, but I do have the ambition to do things in my sporting life and regular life that show that everyone can do the impossible. A young Bermudian businesswoman has been honored by prestige business magazine Forbes after launching a modern take on muesli in the UK.
The two, who met at school in England, won the retail and e-commerce category. Ms Mackenzie, 27, said: We have worked really hard to establish Cuckoo as an exciting new food brand in the UK and it is always good to get recognition.
There are a number of young Bermudians making their mark on the international stage and I would encourage all young Bermudians to pursue their dreams and aspirations as we have done. They have since struck deals with major UK supermarket chains Tesco, Waitrose and the Co-op to stock their products, which come in a variety of flavors, like apple and cinnamon spice and mango and coconut. Cuckoo mueslis are now in 30 Tesco supermarkets, 30 Waitrose ones, and Co-op stores across the UK, as well as in upmarket department store Selfridges in London.
The duo this month completed a deal with UK online grocery store Ocado to stock Cuckoo. Ms Mackenzie and Ms Wright tried Bircher muesli, originally created by Swiss doctor Maximilian Bircher-Benner in , to get patients eating more fresh fruit and grains. Ms Mackenzie and her mother Lorna worked together to create a new recipe that she and Ms Wright decided to market in the UK. Other legal amendments to be tackled cover the definitions of what constitutes a public place, and discrimination with the written word.
The HRC, which will move next month to a new home at Milner Place on Victoria Street, is also to gain greater independence as a non-ministerial department. We believe that marriage is a right that should be available to everybody regardless of their sexual orientation. The Supreme Court decision in the Bermuda Bred case, which comes into effect on February 29, is an important step to ensuring parity for all people. Ms Tannock is one of four commissioners who has stayed on to maintain continuity for the new board, which she described as highly diverse.
Preliminary studies on the bridge have been done and the results are expected to be received by the Ministry of Public Works by the end of next week. Craig Cannonier, the Minister of Public Works, said he had been alarmed by the level of rust on the traverse beams under the bridge. Having said that, the bridge is absolutely safe for single traffic. It is the traverse beams that are rusting. The East End crossing has been reduced to a single lane since December due to serious corrosion, which has also meant vehicles heavier than ten tonnes are off limits.
Mr Cannonier said that the department had not ruled out the idea of a completely new bridge. We want to move towards a long-term solution. We want to see it swing again and we need it up and running so that we can get the concrete in for the marina project and obviously the new hotel.
On the issue of guns and ammunition smuggled into the Island, she said the facility was highly effective in keeping the Island secure. The Premier said it was the third annual open house, and that as the minister responsible he always came to support it.
Members of the public are invited to share their views on the L. Wade International Airport redevelopment. The three meetings will seek feedback on the issues that need to be considered in the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment. Graeme Smith, technical manager of LAS, said: The Ministry of Public Works has identified 30 Government-owned properties that it will look to sell off in the coming months.
The move, which was initially unveiled in the Throne Speech, is part of a policy that will also involve moving civil servants back in Government-owned properties to reduce rent payments and the overall deficit.
The ministry, which is responsible for about properties including residential and commercial space as well as forts, will look to sell off the land in a piecemeal fashion to avoid flooding the market, Craig Cannonier, the Minister for Public Works, revealed. We have some valuable real estate here and if it does not fit within the asset management plan then we need to ask why are we holding on to them when they could be well used by the public, non-profit organisations, first-time homeowners or even new hotel development.
We have now identified 30 properties and lots of land that we should be putting out on the market. The disposals if approved by the legislature will be staggered and take place over a period of time. But it is important to get moving on this and we would like to accomplish it this year.
We are moving our people back into real estate that we own and renovations are going on. The refurbishment plans for the old police station make sense. It is going to be a capital project and we are looking to get the building done this year. It is the second market review of the industry. The Authority is the watchdog organization that oversees the sector. Shortly after the RAB was created it oversaw the arrival of integrated licences that allowed providers to offer multiple telecoms services, rather than be restricted to one.
That change resulted in a number of consolidations among telecommunication service providers and the introduction of bundled package deals for consumers. It is anticipated a report will be published in the second quarter of the financial year. In a statement, the RAB said it might modify existing or develop new safeguards to address market conditions. Is the market more or less competitive as a result of liberalization?
Hamilton Parish residents filled the Francis Patton School hall last night to voice their concerns about plans for Shelly Bay. The plans have yet to be considered by the Development Applications Board, and members of the public can file objections to the Department of Planning this week.
Last night around people attended a town-hall meeting on the topic, raising a host of concerns about the project. During the meeting the crowd heard that environmental groups are planning objections to the proposal and have requested copies of a petition to protest the project.
At that time, he said the developer wanted to place even more parking in the area near the playground and that he had raised concerns. The next he heard of the plans, they had been submitted to planning. If they come down here with bulldozers, we will lay down.
We are not going to have this in Hamilton Parish. Mr Burgess also expressed some concern about the use of the beach by the facility, which would also reportedly include tables on the beach itself. Mr Furbert, meanwhile, questioned the need for a parking lot in the area, saying that the existing parking lot could be used, even if it had to be slightly expanded.
While the developers have said a fence would be erected to separate the parking area from the playground, Ms Griffin said that children would inevitably climb the fence while playing. She also argued that the existing parking would be sufficient to handle the restaurant, saying issues would likely only arise on a few Saturdays in the summer when the nearby field is used for sports.
Other residents also voiced concerns about the project, questioning how the increased waste from the restaurant would be handled without impacting neighbors or those using the beach and about the noise. Worries were also expressed about the use of public land for the project, with one attendee expressing concern that further areas of the park would be lost to the public over time.
Meanwhile, one resident argued against allowing kayaking at the beach, saying it would be a matter of time before a child is injured.
UK Prime Minister David Cameron has defended the deal UK authorities have struck with Bermuda-registered Google over tax, saying the Conservatives have done more than any other government. The PM told the Commons the tax "should have been collected under [the last] Labour government". Mr Cameron was challenged during Prime Minister's Questions about the amount of tax paid by the US tech giant, which has made billions of pounds of sales in Britain. Former Business Secretary Vince Cable said Google had "got off very, very lightly", and the chancellor had "made a fool of himself" by hailing the deal as a victory.
She said MEPs would call George Osborne to appear before them, and criticised the attempt to "make publicity out of it" by talking about large-sounding figures which she said were a fraction of what should be paid. The Ace name has been replaced by the new identity of Chubb Limited. The company also has a new logo. The Listing Committee of the BSX waived the normally required day notice period in consideration of the specific circumstances of the acquisition and the subsequent immediate listing of Chubb Limited on the New York Stock Exchange.
The announcement came yesterday from the Bermuda Police Service, who said that they are conducting a criminal investigation into the allegation. The suspect is said to be assisting police in the inquiry, which is being headed by Detective Chief Inspector Nicholas Pedro. The loan was guaranteed by the Corporation of Hamilton after legislative amendments by the Bermuda Government that allowed the municipality to use the parking lot property as collateral.
The funds were placed in a New York escrow account and subsequently withdrawn in , but the developers defaulted on the loan, sparking legal action between MIF and the developers. Michael Fahy, Minister of Home Affairs, said last year that a criminal complaint had been made to the police, and that efforts had been launched to locate the funds, much of which were reportedly sent to Gibraltar-based Argyle Ltd.
However, MIF threatened this month to claim several corporation properties, including the Hamilton Fire Station, the Chamber of Commerce building and the Custom House, if the loan was not repaid with the interest due by January Mr Gosling said yesterday that the corporation is still working to secure a loan to allow it to repay MIF. We have had numerous further meetings with lawyers to review the lending agreement and are trying to be proactive in this process, seeking assignments rather than waiting for requests.
This is not a process that happens overnight, especially with a sum of this magnitude. The Well Bermuda health promotion strategy will be reviewed and updated today. The overall goals will be the same because they are very relevant to what is happening now. It is themed around healthy people, healthy families and healthy communities, and aims to achieve these through 18 goals. These include improving awareness of and reducing chronic diseases, promoting positive parenting and better quality of life for seniors and the disabled, managing food and vector-borne diseases, increasing road safety and stopping violence before it begins.
Through the Health Promotion Office, Dr Lewin has been encouraging maintenance of a healthy body weight for height.
She has also been promoting healthy eating through the dietary guidelines and EatWell Plate, the annual school lunch competition and a partnership with grocery stores and wholesalers.
At the meeting, each action group will report on the progress towards their objectives, to what extent they have achieved these and whether they are still relevant or need updating. The Steps to a Well Bermuda survey results will also be presented. Age Concern has teamed up with a local physician to help seniors with medical expenses. JJ Soares, who runs Hamilton Medical Centre, is offering free consultations to uninsured or underinsured seniors referred to him by the charity.
In order to assist, he has arranged to see a few patients per week for a free consultation. We will check to see that it is a legitimate hardship and then we will refer the patient on. And in a time of rising medical costs and more people seeking specialist treatment, Ms Fleming said it provides an opportunity to use local resources and help those who may not be able to take advantage of them without cost being an issue.
Ms Fleming added that Age Concern also has a hardship fund and will work with other organisations if there is a dire need for medical assistance. The first of two public meetings soliciting feedback for its environmental impact assessment, held last night in the Anglican Cathedral, heard a strong argument in favour of putting a sailing academy on the site.
BEC is the agency carrying out the consultation for the assessment. The meeting, attended by about 30 members of the public, heard that while the village would be the best spot to watch the races, there would be good viewing through Dockyard and from vantages such as Spanish Point.
Planners hope to make heavy use of water transport, as well as shuttles from peripheral parking sites. While private boats will not be able to congregate at the village, locations such as Mangrove Bay may be used.
Mr Roberts said the recipe for the new restaurant was still under wraps. Mr Roberts said he had known Mr Nearon for five years, after he stopped by Bolero looking for a part-time job. This is the next step up for me. Bolero fans will get it once the concept is publicized. The delayed arrival of both the Amstel Trader and the Somers Isles this week could have a significant impact on supermarkets as well as other customers. Captain Hendrik Basynya reported: Vessel endured 20ft to 24ft seas, with individual waves closer to 30ft at times.
Peak sustained winds of 55 knots, while gusts were observed by crew of 65 to 70 knots. During the worst of the storm the vessel made a minimum speed ahead, just enough to keep a safe heading into seas and swell. Crew is completely exhausted as sleeping was extremely difficult. The captain has been 36 hours continuously on the bridge and is happy to finally get some sleep now that weather has improved.
She is then scheduled to sail on Wednesday morning and arrive in Bermuda on Saturday. They take their role very seriously and always go the extra mile to get the vessels here as close to schedule as possible. We are also fortunate to have great stevedores who quickly discharge the vessels, customs officers who work late to keep the gate and X-ray machine manned, trucking companies who deliver the containers and the suppliers who many times have to bring crews in overnight to get the shelves stocked.
The Amstel Trader was one of the last vessels to berth in New York before snowstorm Jonas began and the port was closed. The port received nearly 30 inches of snow on Saturday, which is just short of an all-time record accumulation. The cleanup effort required for the Port of New York is significant. The vessel will depart for Bermuda at full speed to possibly arrive on Thursday late afternoon, weather permitting. The team are third in the overall World Series standings.
No major problems and we had a great sail. All systems on the new foot foiling catamarans are manual as outside power is prohibited, which places a heavy burden on the grinders on board, who are tasked with providing sufficient energy to charge the hydraulic system through every maneuver around the racetrack. Bermuda-based Axis Capital Holdings Ltd has launched a new insurance policy to cover hospitals against deadly pandemics.
Pandemics represent an especially serious risk for healthcare providers. Mr Lantry said, however, that using data the frequency of pandemics could be estimated, with bubonic plague, the Black Death of the Middle Ages, breaking out every 10 to 30 years since it first surfaced around until modern medicine found a cure.
Similarly, serious outbreaks of influenza have occurred 31 times over the last years. Hospitals which want coverage will also have to undergo an Axis assessment of their pandemic preparedness, carried out by an Axis expert in the field.
Other insurers had offered more limited products in the past, but that the Axis coverage was the most comprehensive. Talking to doctors and healthcare professionals, there is a view that pandemics will become more prevalent. The logistics and transportation service is vital for many businesses in our international and local business community given our island location.
We are committed to working closely with IBC Inc to execute a seamless transition for customers and employees. The board's insurers will foot the bill. The patient suffered damage to his heart and lungs owing to avoidable delays in operating at the hospital to remove the appendix. Acting on the advice of medical malpractice lawyers, it took the case to the Privy Council in London, Bermuda's highest appeals court where a panel of Britain's top judges ruled in favour of the patient yesterday.
Any intelligent person would have seen that it would come to this conclusion. People should challenge the hospital or any large entity when they feel like they have been wronged. They [the BHB] gambled and lost as a result of what I believe was bad advice from their insurer. This could have been settled early on, yet they continued to challenge me. I feel like I have been bullied, but they picked the wrong person to pick a fight with, as I don't like bullies and I stood up for what I believe in.
He now plans to use the rest towards his children's education. As The Royal Gazette has previously reported, Mr Williams spent an agonizing 12 hours waiting for surgery, after being taken ill with crippling stomach pains. His operation was delayed for hours because of a string of problems at the hospital, including delays in running tests and obtaining results.
In the meantime, toxins spread throughout Mr Williams's body, triggering a heart attack and breathing difficulties. He spent a week in the intensive care unit on a life-support machine, but has since made a full recovery. It did not ask that the patient should be stripped of his compensation.
It is a testament of Mr Williams's strength of principle and character that he has persevered with this case for a period of nearly four years. It is also unfortunate that the hospital, which is subsidized by the people of Bermuda and its insurers, are so intent on contesting such obvious claims instead of considering them on an objective basis and achieving a fair and reasonable resolution.
Britain's publicly funded National Health Service also wrote to the Privy Council judges, urging them to heed that concern. At a press conference in Hamilton Police Station yesterday, Acting Inspector Jason Smith from the Serious Crime Unit said that officers were investigating whether the two incidents were linked.
We have to recognise that, in some instances, this is a new reality. We in Bermuda have allowed to get to a certain point, rather than taking the bull by the horns years ago. The first incident took place at about The two men responsible for the attack then sped away on a black motorcycle east on North Shore Road. The victim was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital with serious injuries, before being taken off the Island via air ambulance for further treatment.
The second incident took place at about 7. No one was harmed in this incident, and everyone involved fled the scene before police arrived. If you know something, you should say something. The first is for anyone who may have seen two men on a black motorcycle between 11am and The second appeal is for anyone who was in the Court Street, Ewing Street, Angle Street and Middletown areas, who may have witnessed the incident as it unfolded between 6.
Acting Inspector Smith said: It may be a girlfriend, family member or friend. You may have overheard the planning of the event or you know where these males retreated to after the event. We need you to be bold and come forward. The information that you possess, even though it may seem insignificant to you, may be the small tip that helps in solving these crimes. There is a family that is now in pain, as they deal with the new reality of a loved one dealing with serious injuries.
Author and pastor Tony Evans is set to return to the Island this week to speak about marriage and family. Dr Evans, the first African-American to graduate from Dallas Theological Seminary with a doctoral degree, is the author of several Christian books including Kingdom Agenda: What a Way to Live!
The speech is scheduled to take place at the Heritage Hall Worship Centre on Wednesday, starting at 7pm. A public meeting at 6. He suggested an alternative site elsewhere in the park where an old access road is blocked off. What people seem to be missing is that there is a process by which people can object to a planning application. The closing date for objections for this application is not until Friday, January 29, so there is still plenty of time for people to go in to the planning office in Hamilton and register opposition to the plan.
The planning system has been in place for many years, and has stood the test of time. So I urge people not to waste time complaining about it: The father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who passed away on Saturday at the age of 86, was praised yesterday for his contributions to the Island by those closest to him.
The father and son team notably handled the funeral of the late Governor, Sir Richard Sharples, after his assassination in They also dealt with the burial of his Great Dane, which was killed alongside him. He was always there for me, rain, blow or shine.
We had a lot of interesting stories. I can recall I received an e-mail from someone abroad. Right away Louis was able to tell me which church it was, what cemetery it was and where to find the grave. But his horses were his life. He would also moonlight as a taxi driver, and at 15 he operated the train on the Ferry Reach route.
Terry Lamb, who sold him the horses, told how Mr Perinchief grinned from ear to ear the first time they triumphed at the show. Mr Perinchief was devastated when Kip died on January 23 of last year.
He then made the tough decision to put down Cody in the summer. His niece, Joanne Hollis, whom he lived with for the last five years of his life, said that in his final days he would often ask her the date.
We could not believe it. There are about health service providers on the Island and 2, registered health professionals. Jeanne Atherden, the Minister of Health, said: This gives an excellent start to the process of registering all healthcare businesses to give stronger assurance to the public that measures are in place to assure safety and improve patient experience.
But registering health service providers allows the BHeC to improve patient protection by sharing more information about services. The process will also potentially assist the BHeC with managing financially vested self-referrals, and monitoring the entry of high-risk health technology, specifically medical equipment.
Registration involves submitting information such as demographic facility information, declaration of financial interests, identifying information for the business owner, a list of medical equipment and maintenance dates, a description of services performed, and the names and qualifications of staff.
The BHeC checks for complaints about the provider, reviews the application and provides a compliance report. The details are then published on the BHeC website. Tawanna Wedderburn, acting chief executive of the BHeC, said: We recognise there are some opportunities for improvement.
In collaboration with providers and with the support of many health agencies, we are working towards empowering patients to be more involved in the care they receive as we enhance health system planning and accountability.
The registration of health service providers will enhance the health system by facilitating health system planning, promoting safe and ethical clinical practice environments, and advancing patient rights and care. The names and compliance reports of the providers who have registered with the BHeC can be found on our website, www. The Mediterranean island of Malta is set to challenge Bermuda for its captive insurance crown. The country is to launch a drive to attract the captive industry to its shores, instead of Bermuda.
However, since captives have been left out of the equivalence project, this could provide an edge to European domiciles at some point in the future. This is because such companies do not suffer additional financial costs associated with both the establishing and running of a fronting insurance company, therefore remaining an attractive vehicle to explore investment opportunities.
It was innovation to a certain extent because it did something some people did not think possible. I think we have the best of both worlds. Dr Ramella is deputy director, policy and research, with the BMA. Some constituents told us that, as Bermuda continues to battle its way out of an economic crisis, the most likely winner will be the candidate who can best deliver on employment hopes.
One year-old Vesey Street resident, who will be voting for the first time, told this newspaper: I really need a job. About extra voters are listed there now, up from the 1, on the electoral roll in , when Mr Blakeney won by 19 votes.
The selection, widely seen as a litmus test for the OBA midway through its administration, lies mainly with voters clustered in a handful of close-knit neighborhoods. One such estate surrounds Alexandra Road in Prospect, where a year-old construction worker, giving his name as Forrest, said he had voted for the OBA in but would support Mr Rabain next month.
I got to make sure I put food on the table. I will be taking older people to vote too. A few doors down, a wheelchair-bound woman in her 40s said her decision would rest on a thorough assessment of both candidates, neither of whom she had seen yet. Winning is determined by who shows their face the most. The only time you see these guys is during an election. With healthcare his top priority, he was waiting to discuss the issue in detail with both candidates.
Lookout Lane, another close-knit community, lies at the northwest corner of Constituency 13 near the old Winton property, where a year-old new voter said she would be excited to take part for the first time. Although she has a job, she said she wanted something more and was finding it difficult. His vote would be determined by healthcare. FutureCare would settle her vote when she got to know the candidates better.
In the southeastern corner of the constituency, on Upland Street, the PLP was solidly endorsed by another senior who said: The historic Queen of the East was torn down yesterday, disappointing campaigners who fought for years to save the building. The East Broadway building, which was first built in the s, is set to be replaced with a six-storey residential block. Sallie Singleton, who had been part of campaigns to save the building, said yesterday she was devastated when she discovered that the building had been demolished.
The cost to save it was too high. Bayfield Clark, a well-known architect, rented and restored the house in the s and during his tenure the property was a Bermudian showplace. However, the property was controversially stripped of its listed building status in after falling into disrepair and efforts to save the property in recent years have failed.
They have my word that I will look into it and get back to them. What will happen is they will be turned away until they get rid of their car and lose their house until they become a bigger burden. They just need a little assistance right now. He is married, with a five-year-old daughter now in Elliot Primary School, where he is head of the parent teacher association. With a background in electronic engineering, he worked for six years in the Department of Works and Engineering, then became a founding partner of Compu-CAD, a company specializing in architectural drafting, land surveying and project management.
Mr Rabain is now the community service chairman for the Outstanding Teen Awards. Sometimes you have to pass new legislation, improve existing legislation, and hold people accountable. The couple are now renovating a home on Mary Victoria Road. In , he was commissioned as an officer, and has served on response teams in the past two hurricane seasons.
The subject that initially drew him to politics was health policy. I have now spent four years working on health policy issues in Bermuda. I am a huge believer in the principles of openness in civil society and government: Mr Simons said his canvassing had been based on hearing their concerns.
The groundbreaking Mental Health Court is saving lives and giving participants fresh hope for the future. This according to the men and women who have taken part in the treatment programme as well as the team of lawyers, probation officers, court services staff and judges that work to provide the service.
I n the past two years, dozens of men and women have successfully completed the Mental Health Treatment Court Programme MHTCP with many gaining employment and pursuing further education.
This success has even preceded the Bermuda Government providing a legislative framework for the programme, which is expected to be tabled in the upcoming Parliamentary session. The DTC has a 75 per cent success rate and MHTCP reflects the same, meaning that where a person successfully completes the programme 75 per cent will never reoffend.
Clearly the therapeutic approach is having more of an effect than just punishment and means a safer society. I will never order anything from them again.
On top of that received wings late and was cold. Consider you driver wouldnt give me my money or pizza I had to stand ouTside like really this is sad. Very disappointed today when my favorite Pizza chain let me down tonight! Long story short, asked for specials. The order and total was verified. I asked my husband to pick up the order. I have never in the history of Pizza Hut ordered breadsticks. Believing I wanted them because I told him I ordered them, he told them to add them because I ordered them, not realizing they should have been in the special.
I was very disappointed with this unprompted by me change that Pizza Hut made on my order. They put me on hold. I held the first time for 25 minutes. I called again and asked for the manager and am on my 13th minute of holding as I write this. Not only that, I took pictures of the pizza! Pizza hut is my favorite of all competitive chains and I always order at least the base same pizza. I have not been holding this second time for 15 minutes after asking for the manager. Rachel just answered and said the manager Craig is busy and wanted her to take the call.
I expressed that I have already waited 25 minutes and another 15 minutes took a screenshot of the time on my phone. I jumped on the fact that my husband was late and would almost pass Pizza Hut. This does not give me fighting power for our next Pizza Hut to get my favorite. We placed our order on March 15th at 9: We waited and called the store at He asked for a phone number, and we think we typed in a wrong number.
I got an email confirmation saying our order was placed, and had an order number. We placed our order, got a confirmation number, and waited for an hour and 45 minutes for our dinner.
They have delivered here a thousand times. The staff member gave no interest in helping. I will be contacting corporate, or anyone that I need to get this problem solved! I ordered at 8pm and never received my order. I called and spoke with someone 4 times and was given 4 different lies.
Instead of contacting me and letting me know that my order was never coming my kids went hungry and were sleep by 10pm. I ended up cooking something myself, waking them up to eat at 11pm. I did receive a refund; however I will make sure that the word gets out. I have had nothing but bad experiences from Pizza Hut and will never order there ever again. I will stick to Jets Pizza. The Antioch, TN location just ruined it for me.
Had a bad waitress her name Nicole rude and used bad language to one of my kids in the mount olive NC store never will I go there again. March 10th I ordered a pizza online aguadilla, PR location and went to the store to pick up the pizza and the store was closed. I even called the store to confirm the location and the phone number was not working.
I paid online for the pizza, spending almost 30 dollars for a pizza I never received! I am highly upset.
The hours I ordered the pizza were within the hours of operation, might I add. I need a refund! I honestly believe the customer service at pizza hut has been the worst experience for me. My order was delivered incorrectly the first two times. I called to speak to a manager to have the issue resolved before getting out of character I mean its a pizza right? At this moment, I am tapped out! I can spend my money in other places. Garlic knots have almost no cheese and very little garlic.
Dominos garlic knots are superior by far. The complaint is the same all across the board, bad cold pizza to horrible customer service. Time to boycott Pizza Hut. Making fun of hunger strike prisoners. No more, Dominos is better anyway. They all want be in business long if they continue to close the lobby and turn customers around 9 pm and suppose to close At 11pm on a Saturday night. I ordered at 7: Your Customer Service is a joke. I ordered at 6: I called first at 7: Called again at 8: I will think twice before ordering from here again.
Tryed ordering a Pizza today gorm the papamoa pizza hut I was on the phone for over 45 min the phone system hung up on me over six time this is a unsatisfactory service please make it Better. You make it way too complicated. Please consider changing the way you present your menus online or at least give customers the option of being able to simply pull up a menu with prices to view.
I cancel that order and order from another store put in the promo code and get the same message. I realize now it was just a way for them to obtain my email address and phone number to send me more useless promotions that will clog my in box. This may seem petty but you just lost a customer. The butter garlic sauce is why we order from Pizza Hut over your competitors.
Winter season is quiet here until about may when baseball season starts, then we are inundated with tourists. So we walk in, there is one waiter with the personality of a cardboard pizza box.
Takes him forever to seat us. Just one other couple in place already seated. About 5 tables in back loaded with filthy dirty dishes, left overs, debris, clogs of stuff on rug near dirty tables where looked like someone puked and left on top was chemicals whole time we were there…no one cleaned this mess.
Took forever to get appetizer and pizza. We almost got up and walked out, and we asked ourselves if we were crazy for even waiting or trusting the food quality…we probably were…but it takes 20 minutes to drive anywhere out here in the boondocks. Pizza was actually good surprisingly. The appetizer looked nothing like what we ordered. Ambience gets a zero…rates close to dumpster diving.
We will go to the Oneonta Pizza Hut next time…that one has been decent. Waited forever after eating for waiter to show up with box for leftovers and bill…we took the food up to the counter for a box so we could finally escape the bad dream experience.
The grotesque food mess and floor at the other tables were still untouched as we headed out the door. Pizza gets 4 stars, everything else gets a big fat zero. I placed my order at 9: I received an email stating that the delivery would arrive by The driver did not apologize for being late nor did we receive a phone call. The food was not hot and the wings were not fresh and hard. I also ordered a 2 liter Pepsi and a 2liter Dr. I got a 2liter Dr.
Pepper and a 2liter Mountain Dew. The driver acted like he was scared when my son and husband went to the door. I wish that I would have known what time it was before I added a tip. Please keep in mind that we stay in a neighborhood with retired military, active duty military, teachers, and hospital workers.
I was very with the service an the quality of food. I just ordered 2 medium pizza from Dunn ave in Jacksonville,Fl.
I asked for 2 thin crust pizza 1 with extra cheese and pepperoni the other pizza with extra cheese pepperoni onions and bell peppers. The order was to be delivered every thing was fine until I got my pizza and it was not what I ordered they had no onions or bell peppers on the pizza.
So I call and informed them about the pizza. The female that answered the phone stated they were under the pepperoni. So I checked on both pizza but no onions or peppers.
I called back and a male answered the phone and explained my situation and I asked if they could correct the problem. He stated he could not fix the problem. I just want the pizza I ordered and paid for. Just did online ordering from the location in Fort Oglethorpe, GA for the first time.
I ordered a super supreme pizza and and apple pies. I received my food right on time, but my pizza only has cheese, sauce, Italian sausage, red onions and black olives. Not very supreme at all. I have bought form pizza hut in Kansas and Missouri!
I will never buy another one again! I live in Grand Prairie TX. I order from pizza hut on a regular basis. I even worked for pizza hut as a delivery driver in my younger days. Whether it be my local store or others when i travel the level of quality and courtesy has dropped significantly. When I call instead, I am greeted by rude personnel. The managers dont care or take pride in service or product.
I have generally goos delivery people and I have a good relationship with the regulars. I sm tired however of the extremely substandard service. The food quality is unbelievably horrid.
It saddens me since I have ate pizzs hut for 30 years plus. Something needs to change. I hope you can remedy your stores, customer service, and prpduct in the future. Maybe then I will cpme bacl however it will never be the same because of the inadequacies you have shown over the past 4 years. All YUM brand stores are like this…. Reducing labor costs drive good employees away. There is 1 employee at the Sullivant ave.
Did u know the delivery drivers make only 4. Well about two days ago I went to Pizza Hut in Escondido,California Store ordered two pizzas for carryout; one large pizza with 3 toppings ham, bacon, chicken, and extra cheese with stuffed crust. I immediately went back to the store and complained first of all it took 1 hour to make I was starving, had driven two times already and all they tell me is that they can either make it again or give me store credit when it was there mistake not mine.
I made them give me my money back but yet nobody reimbursed me for the gas I wasted both times going to the store. I just wish they would get fired for not handling there job I am never Going to any pizza hut ever again you lost a valuable customer. What the eff else exactly are they supposed to do?!!!!!!
Did they mess up the pizza? I had the same experience. After calling two times A and speaking to the manager The pizza finally Showed up at It was cold at past bed time for the kids. The customer service along with the level of engagement of both the employee along with the management is very poor.
There are several pizza business in Statesville that want to service there customers so in the future I will spend my money with them. I ordered a All meat pizza and when I picked up the pizza all the topings fall off.
I mean cheese and ingredients feel off. It was just DOE. I called the lady told me that happens sometimes… I want be ordering from pizza hut in Decatur AL again. I mean who wants pizza if they have to keep picking up the cheese and topings. Pizza Hut is the worst. There service here in Conyers, Ga is terrible. He made us wait for the wrong order for three hours and told us we were wrong, but my phone recorded the time frame. Only you actually got to talk with a person. I was told had to make complaints online.
We ordered it and was told it would be ready at 7: When we got there at that time we were told it would be another 20 mins, so we waited. Another customer came in and had to waiting. While waiting the phone kept ringing but no one answered it. After the 20 mins was up I walked back up there and was told it would be another 10 to 15 mins.
After 15 mins we walked back in and was talking to the guy who was still sitting and waiting. He told us he has been waiting for 1 hr and 20 mins. While talk another custom walked in and talked to us. She asked how long we have been waiting that she had to wait 50 mins. There is no reason for this lack of service. After another 20 mins later the woman handed our food to us and when I asked how much and just waved her hand and said next time call it in that it will be faster. We will not eat there again.
Essentially, a digital billboard with measurable results. Andre Interested in learning more? Click Here-Intro video Another great video. I was very disappointed that this happing in this store.
Hi, I would like to contact someone privately. I believe his name was Frank tall Caucasian male with brown hair and goatee. I heard him speaking to one of his coworkers in such a discriminating way, being extremely disrespectful and voicing opinions not suitable in a professional environment. You should be ashamed of yourselves for allowing such a person to work for your company!! Ian was a fantastic pizza. I definitely recommend him to other diners.
I apologized and preceded to wait another 45 minutes. Same here, we order pizza and leave us waiting for one hour and a half, I called to follow 6 times. This lady even hang up and slam the phone.
This is how they run their business.. Customer Service is not part of their business according to the lady who answer the phone. This was a scam. I have the order number if you want to contact me. Give me back my money. They way your company handles customer service complaints is a huge problem and needs to be fixed and or addressed as soon as possible.
I am very displeased with the way your store located on the Norfolk Naval Base handled my huge order and then never reached back out to me to apologize. I will continue to share this with the world. I agree that their customer service is horrible. I live in a totally different city and state and the same issue exists. It must be part of the training or lack there of. I was very frustated once I finally recieved my orderand it still incorrect, no one apologized or even acknowledged the mistake.
This has to be shared that your organization needs help!! Was trying to call for 45 mins was transferred twice and finally given the direct number and still had troubles getting through! My husband an i was at pizza hut in dubois pa. The waitress took our order an turned it in. Then she bring the other 2 men their order. She stood there an talked to them so long that by the time we got our pizza an wings they was cold.
This evening, I placed an order for a large pizza. I arrived at the restaurant to pick it up and I see my name on the board advising that my order is complete and ready for pick up.
Well, they did not have my order, possibly it was given to another customer. Although, the mgr offered to remake it and discount me. I could not wait bc I have 3 children anxiously waiting to eat, so we go to Taco Bell, only to be told that they could not take my order becaauussee they are out of TACOS. Are you kidding me? This makes about the 5th time in about a year that Pizza Hut messed my order up. Two times was No Pizza at all!!!
Sounds like mgmt needs to be retrained and inventory needs to have dual control when ordering. I order a large sauge cheese pizza and pasta I got sick 1 hour later. I am not asking for my money back. I am just letting you know you mite want to check your cheese because I think it is badz.
Forget Pizza Hut, I will make an effort as you have to alienate me, I will return the favor and will not ever order from your company again. I trust this is not the way That Awful Company like Pizza Hut wishes to conduct business with valued customers—I would welcome the opportunity to discuss matters further and to learn of how you propose to prevent a similar situation from recurring.
I look forward to hearing from you. I will not throw the rest of the pizza and the pasta away for a couple of days to prove it did eat the hole thing. I did not touch the pasta. I so totally agree. Back in the day going to pizza hut was a treat. Now its just blah. They used to chop all the ingredients on the supremes, then they layered it under the cheese.
Every bite you tasted was supurb! In addition, i only go now for the supreme sandwich the best! To my dismay the other night i found out they changed the creamy italian dressing with low cal italian.
Not the same at all. My favorite thing has been changed. I was so upset. When my order arrived, the garlic knots, dipping sauces and brownie were not included.
Now they did tell me it would take a while if I wanted the rest of my order because they were backed up. I still chose to get the rest of my order delivered. However, the rest of my order was never delivered nor did I receive a refund. This is not the first time we have not received all of our order and though they say they are busy, we live in a pretty small town and their parking lot never has more than two or three cars in it.
I love pizza hut pizza, but the service is horrible! This problem has been going on for a while now. This is a small town and everyone knows it.
I dont order pizza hut cause of this. I thought i would give your store another chance today and take advantage of your order online special.
To my surprise, your website couldnt deliver to my address as if it didnt find it. You may want to find out the service your competitors are using to find legitimate addresses to verify delivery area.
The apartments that i live in have been around for almost 4 years now and there is no excuse on why you havent updated your website with this info. When calling your store location was told that it would take 2 and a half hours for delivery. If you are gonna offer a service than you should ensure that the location is staffed properly instead of having just 1 driver as i was told the reason for the length.
This is unacceptable from a customer point of view. Your competitors are taking business away from you and i dont mind paying a little extra just to have it delivered within 30 to 40 minutes. Maybe you have the wrong people running the location as like i have said, this isnt the 1st time that this location has given me the same excuse and length of delivery time. I do not think it is appropriate for your employees and management to fraternize on the levels that have been witnessed.
I run a Mathnasium a math learning center for students of all ages next door to Pizza Hut in Eden Prairie, MN and find myself consistently going next door to Pizza Hut to ask the staff to please stop yelling profanities.
My students and parents complain to me every time a Pizza Hut employee yells bad words…. This is embarrassing to everyone except your employees who care nothing about a family image or curving their foul language when they know there are children from first grade to high school who can hear them clearly. Your employees do apologize every time I ask them to curve the language. Why is it so difficult to NOT use foul language? What can be done to stop the profanity, please?
We visited the Milton location: Our server was the only one working the entire dining area, BUT was going the best he could. He had 3 large party tables, which after about 40 minutes 1 table walked out because all they had received was their drinks which they waited about 20 minutes for. From where we were seated you could see staff behind the counter at times just talking with no sense of the dining area or their overwhelmed coworker. So much for an appetizer. Hard to believe that such a well known company name with national advertising does not have better customer service, is not better team orientated and does not develop a management team that believes in quality.
I think this location and the location staff does not realize that your guests can tell whether you really want to work at your job or you just show up to say you have a job. We visited the second location on Hwy 89 first and waited 20 minutes and left.
We received our menus but never had a server come to our table. Once we saw the server start taking drink orders for a table that came in AFTER us we got up and left. Ordered from your castor ave store on the phone 6: I did not receive my order at the time given. I called the store and they said my order left out. I said to him I waited over hours for my food and he said that my order was sitting on the warmer the whole time.
I was promised a fresh order and my old order as an inconvenience. I agreed, so I waited another hour and they said it just left out the door. I will never order from this location EVER!! I work in customer service and this store is pitiful. Guess its Dominoes and Papa Johns for us. My shift managers were very rude to me and tried to fire me.. I called headquarters and i had my job back in 2 days. Now my hours have been cut by the shift managers.
Pizza hut is okay to work for as long as you dont let the managers run over you and treat you unfair. Vicki, This seems to be the pizza hut way! I have never heard of someone being paid mileage out of their District managers pocket! Maybe a good lawsuit will make them reevaluate how they treat their employees. They have no intergrity and are very unethical! On December 31 , 8: And 2 different 2 litter and when the pizza and stuff arrived I open my box to find a hole in my pizza and one chicken missing out of my chicken box.
Yes I had a lot of other bad experiences with them with my orders coming late or them missing up my order this was the worst and when the pizza arrived after they made my new it was garlic stuff crust it was just regular stuff crust I told a picture of the pizza to. Now it makes sense why ALL three companies are horrible in service and food quality! I prefer to pay more at another company.
At least you get what you pay for!!! I ordered 2 pizzas and 2 wing orders for the family in hopes it would be delivered in a decent time. I was told that it would be delivered in 30 minutes. After asking for my number, the clerk said my order was not for delivery but for pickup.
Very frustrated, I cancelled my order and got pizza somewhere else. Until they can say they can give me a discount free get it.
If you are between the ages of 18 and 25 and need to get your Texas drivers license, it can be a lot more fun while eating a Pizza Hut Pizza. They all do like this they r fake they even blame u for tht even give u advice cos I work with them already they even hold my salary. Do you idiots that are leaving comments here realize that this page is in no way even remotely affiliated with Pizza Hut?
Also after reading some of the complaints, it appears that most complainers have a reading and writing comprehension level no better than a 3rd grader. Then yours means you have a pathetic life because you have nothing better to do then read website blogs. I worked at Pizza Hut for 10 years, so I know what it a fresh dough is supposed to look like. So with my experience working at Pizza Hut I had imagined the Pizza would turn out the color expected, just to open the box with the stuffed crust was all white as if the dough had been sitting around for a week.
I am very unsatisfied for how much I spent only to end up with a low quality dough. Very bland, you can count the number of each ingredient ordered on each slice of pizza and my first thought when it was handed to me was this sure is light for a large pizza. Shame, use to have spectacular pizzas when it was headquartered and was a family owned business in Wichita, Kansas as a kid I use to eat at their 4th expansion restaurant in Emporia, Kansas. Off comment; the parking lot of the W 18th location in Emporia, Kansas is like an obstacle course with ruts, holes and bumps, am I suppose to rent a 4 x 4 truck to go get my pizza?
Never again, this was a trial run after our last bad experience and if it is possible they have even gotten worse than that. I work for a company Stericycle communications solutions, and a colleague and I order pizza for our training class and for the pizza was very cold, no pizza sauce.
It was from store , and order number I ordered a pizza a few hours ago and it was an hour late. The driver rung my bell smelling like ass. Then he had the nerve to forget the soda in his car. I watched his cheesy ass walk back to his vehicle and returned with the soda. Meanwhile my pizza came from the trunk and he told me he kept it there to keep it safe because he felt he may be robbed.
Where did you find his dirty ass at? I know for a fact he is a convicted felony his finger tips tells it all. My name is Theresa. I wuk be there shortly so I suggest you make the brownies fresh. Apparently they do not look at anything the costumers are saying so why should I leave any comments the people deserve better….. I ordered two large pizzas and was given two medium pizzas. The Manager was extremely rude and was not trying to compromise.
His only option was to refund my money or remake the same pizza. Making the same pizza made absolutely no sense. Jacob the store manager was extremely rude when I asked for his name. Before providing his name he hung up on me. Seriously, a waste of my time waiting for my pizzas to feed my hungry family. Complete waste of my gas to go back to the store for their mistake.
I requested my refund and spent my money else where. I am at pizza-hut just after lunch, the pizza is barely warm the marina is room temperature. This Newberry store needs some serious help. Very sad and unhappy. Dear Sir I am vijay sharma in India so I compost the song of pizza hut you r interested reply me of mail thank you.
Im a Kuwaiti woman i had abad lunch time in One of pizza hut branches actually in Hateen which is the worse service. They always late and traded the people in bad face. The wait staff knows one of the girls. She always orders a thin crust pepperoni as soon as she sits down … every time. She always orders cherry dessert. Today, the waitress brought out the cherry dessert as we were standing up to leave.
So we took it to the register. The manager Mike Willey was called. I would not write this if he had one hint that he cared about our experience. He said that we could not take it with us and that he would have to throw it away. It was the look on his face that prompted me to write this. I felt as though I were talking to a 12 year old. Just ordered pizza from pizza hut in keokuk iowa to have delivered by for our lunch break. We called and ordered an hour before nd they showed up 15 minutesate and were beyond rude.
The manager said they dont guarantee it to be delivered on time. She said our options were to cancel our order or suck it up. Wont be ordering ever again! Are we having a 35th? When will you have some other year books in there. My brother graduated from WaCoHi in My sister went there as a freshman in and she would have graduated in I would have graduated in The last post here is from Ed Faubel just before Hurricane Katrina destroyed almost all of the city that he lives in! Let's all hope and pray that he and many others were able to survive. I wrote him an email just 2 days before the hurricane hit and have not heard a word from him Good to see old friends.
Boy was "69" a great year. I did not have my picture taken for the year book, I think there was several of us that did not.
But, I would like to be included in the class re-union for next year. I looked thru the pictures and we all look different these days.
In the first picture of a Pleasant View first grade class. In the first row on the far right is Kari Schmidgall. I think that the girl you have identified as a Faubel is actually Barbara Schrock. The first name of the little girl beside the teacher was Vicky. In the second grade picture starting with the back row from the right is Rex Winemiller and Kari Schmidgall. The little girl in the front row on the right is Virginia Waughop.
In the Grace Bible Choir I recognize several faces. In the first row from the left. The first man is your father Walter Lott. I don't know the next one but the last one is Jim Lanxton and next to him is Mrs. Schuck, but I don't remember her first name for now. Second row and the second person in is Doris Attig. Skip two ladies and the next one is Virginia Summer. The only other one whose name I can recall in that row is the second to the last, Jo Ann Summer.
In the third row is Joan Cook her mother and if you skip one her sister Jean. The next one is a Hunziker. Skip the next one and you have Bob Summer. In the last row is the oldest Wehnes girl and next to her is Mrs. I don't know anyone else in that row except Carol Lott in the far right corner. Some of the other faces I recognize but I can't put names on them right now.
The pioneer girls picture is pretty unclear for me right now. Let me study it more and I will try to name some of the girls. I hope this helps. These pictures bring back some pretty good memories of more innocent times. Thank-you Don for all of your hard work! I would welcome any contact with any old classmates.

I think I might have some school pictures to send to post on website Please e-mail me anyone at Kitdog hotmail. Be glad to hear from you Also been looking for Jerry Harp We liked each other in high school, and I've lost contact with him.

I would be thrilled to hear from. This is a great site! Am looking for Dee Dee Lucas contact. If anyone knows how I might reach her, please contact me. She was back for the 59 reunion in Sept. Just happened to run across it while surfing. I have a yearbook if you need one to scan, etc. Anyone know the whereabouts of Doug McLees.
I believe he lives in s. Missouri as I do. Don, Thanks for all of your hard work. Would love to hear from some old classmates. Nothing like a walk down memory lane. Great site really enjoyed see old and new pictures. Just need 72's year book, I've seemed to have lost mine somewhere down through the years. Good to see some familiar pics and post ole Crawdad, Don Cook do you remember your helmet decoration? Still remember that black crawdad on the Orange helmet I believe it was our freshmen year on the football squad.
So many great memories. Married Vicky Wietzel in who used to live on Grant St. Thanks to all involved with this site. Friday May 20, - 8: Over the past several weeks, there has been a deluge of postings on this page from websites advertising online poker and backgammon. Because of this, I have changed the way that entries are posted.
When you enter a message, it will not appear immediately as it has in the past. Your entry will go into a queue until I can post it manually. This is the only way that I can keep unscrupulous website owners from loading up the page with spurious entries. Sorry for any inconvenience. Well Don, I want to thank you for stopping to talk and telling me about this site.
Going through and seeing names I haven't thought about in years was great. I think I will check this site often. This is a wonderful site! The photos of Washington in the '60's and '70's brought back so many wonderful memories.
I hope there will be a 30th class reunion next year for our class. Would love to hear from any classmates! The site is very interesting and the memories are good.. Thanks for all the hard work we all enjoy it. Does anyone know how a former Washington Grade School student would get ahold of a class list for the 1st grade class of ? This is such a thrill to see this web site.
I was a freshman in My name is Suzanne Krempp and I would love to hear from anyone that was in my class.
I recognize a lot of faces in the year book. I live in California now and my email is Also if anyone knows where David Cherry is student at school let me know.
Lots of love to all of the Alumni. I am thoroughly enjoying this Website and can assure you I will be visiting it again. If your summers are too warm where you are why not come north to Calgary? My brother, Tim, sent it to me from Northwestern instead of working.
My husband and I have spent part of each year the last three years in Paris. Don, Thanks for the help, you have done a wonderful job. It has been great to look at the site and see pictures.
Looking forward to hearing from old class mates. Great site--I typed in my maiden name and found this wonderful site. My grandfather, Clarence Brunnenmeyer is 99 and talks frequently of his work and love for the Washington Historical Society.
I have a Washington High sweatshirt that I wear in his honor and that of my uncle and father Richard and Dennis Brunnenmeyer. Thanks for doing this! Wow seeing this site has brought back many memories. Great job on putting this web-site together. This is a wonderful site. I was told about it by Denny Erickson ,class of The pictures are great to look at. I will definitely be checking this site out again. Thanks to all who put this together. It's fun to look at.
Don, This site is terrific. It was really nice to see you and Dee Ann at the breakfast at the lake as part of the Class of '69 Reunion. I was really glad you found a picture of the old Depot where my dad worked as a station agent before we moved to Florida.
When I heard that the Railroad tore it down to avoid paying property taxes I was saddened. Oh well, life goes on. In addition to thanking you for creating and maintaining this site, I would like to once again express my appreciation to Patty Wagner, Ray Lott, Gail Schwarentraub Harris and Terry Speerly for their dedication in pulling off a 35th Reunion. Please let me know. I will be calling to get a copy of it. Tom, thanks for the correction, and thanks for sharing your memories of Washington.
I wish that we could have attended the " I've Got A Story " program in which you participated, but look forward to viewing the video. If anyone else would like to see the video, contact the Washington Historical Society to purchase it. I need to correct previous info It is Ron Naffziger.. Also, my hat off to the folks who organize the "I got a Story" gathering. What a beautiful way to share memories of living and growing up in Washington.
I was surfing the internet today and decided to type in my mother's maiden name Brunnenmeyer. I found your website and much to my surprise, saw photos of my great grandparents, John and Lena Brunnenmeyer, who I had never met. My mother, Mary Brunnenmeyer, was born and raised in Washington. Haven't seen most of you since the early 50's. I still get to Peoria occasionally and would be interested in having lunch sometime. If not lunch, perhaps we can exchange an email or two.
Look forward to hearing from you! I didn't graduate with the class in Turning 17 as a freshman and 20 in I dropped out in May of 65, and spent the next 32 years at Caterpillar Inc. I had many friends at WCHS. The 35 year reunion was my first and I enjoyed it very much. Thank you for letting me join you and I hope to see you all at the 40th reunion. The picture of Washington Co-op Hi, my name is Jeremiah and I grew up in a very old house in Washington at S.
My parents still live there today but I was wondering if you had any old photos of that house. I found one on this web site that shows a few houses on S. Main but mine is covered by a few trees so I can't see it too well. Just wondering though if there were anymore out there. When I was younger we also did that Christmas tour thing.
I remember I had to stay upstairs though while people came in and ate cookies and snacks: COM I'm more impressed with what you are doing.
Our picture file is growing at the Historical Society, and will sometime soon be sorted and catalogued so we know what we have. We had a wonderful Christmas Home Tour this year. Over people came through. The old White Mason-White funeral home was the big draw. The Ruppman's have been working on it or their contractors have been working on it for almost 5 years and it is close to complete. Again, Thank you for your wonderful excitement for Washington.
I've been here 72 years and wish I could see another Don, I've been checking out your site since Keith Smith showed it to me a little over a year ago. It's been great to see so many things that I remember and some I don't! In 30 years of playing music, mostly in Colorado but other places as well, it's not been uncommon for someone from home to show up in some obscure place and say 'Hi'. The talk inevitably turns to what a great place Washington was to grow up in.
After finding the WaCoHi site quite by accident, I was pleased so see 'old times' photos around town. It was the first time I had seen the photo of me at work in front of Bill Engle's gas station on Peoria Street in Your historical presentation brings many happy memories. Keep up the great work.
Don - the site is great. I did not know it existed - now I can share with my brother and sister. I do have the names of a few of the folks from the '65 class, but will have to pull out my ancient pics. Looking forward to our reunion in July. This is an outstanding piece of work!! It certainly brings back a carload of memories. Thanks for you great effort. It is great to take this walk down memory lane.
I found out about reunion after the fact. This is a great site. I'm a long time gone from WaCoHi, but this really brings back some great memories. I see that many of us have traveled far away, but we never can forget those great years and the wonderful simplicity of it all.
I didn't make it to the 35th reunion, but John Welch told me about the Web site. It had some great memories - bitter and sweet. Thank you, Don, for creating this site. I can't find the Uncle Woody's pictures. I used to work there. I sure miss those "Big Deals. I think my whole set of glasses when I was first married consisted of those confiscated from there.
