The main campus is located 15 miles The city of Davis is a college town , with the ratio of students to long term residents estimated at 1: Also contributing to the college-town environment is the close proximity of downtown Davis to the campus' main quad—a matter of a few blocks, and 5- to minute walk or bike ride.

Davis' 15 minute distance from Sacramento provides it with both the isolation critical to fostering a college-town environment while also providing a lively and large metropolitan area nearby. Although the campus itself is vast, the entire community of Davis is relatively small and is easily traversable on bike utilizing Davis' extensive bicycle trails.

Towards the northeast end of campus is the Quad, a large rectangular field, which was the historic geographic center of campus. Earlier in the campus' history, the few campus buildings surrounded the four sides of the Quad.

Today, though the campus has grown significantly and the geographic center of campus has shifted, the Quad remains the center of campus life, anchored to the north by the Memorial Union student union , to the south by Shields Library and to the West and Southeast by Wellman and Olson Halls respectively.

Also notable in this northeastern corner is the labyrinthine Social Sciences and Humanities building designed by Antoine Predock , known to students as the " Death Star " for its angular, metallic design. The majority of Equestrian Center, and Animal Sciences buildings are located near the Arboretum Waterway, away from the core campus; the West Entry Parking Complex, the Silo Union, and the newly constructed Science Lecture Hall and the Science Laboratory Building are located nearer to the Tercero residence halls and the core of campus.

The Mondavi Center , home of the University Symphony Orchestra and other cultural events, is also located near the Tercero complex. The project will include apartments, single-family homes, 42, square feet of commercial space, a recreation center and study facilities. West Village will also host the first community college on a UC campus.

The classes held in this area mainly involve plant sciences, but also include entomology courses as well. Students in the plant sciences maintain gardens as part of the PLS 5 lab while Entomology L and students embark on field trips to sample fish for parasites at Putah Creek and conduct projects in forensic entomology at the UC Davis ecosystem, respectively.

To the south side of the campus core is the acre UC Davis Arboretum , which includes 3. There are seven public art statues found around campus, collectively called The Egghead Series, sculpted by the late Robert Arneson , who also taught at Davis from — UC Davis Student Housing operates 23 residence halls totaling 29 buildings which are organized into three areas: Segundo, Tercero, and Cuarto. Adjacent to the northwest corner of campus is the Cuarto undergraduate housing complex, which has one dining commons.

The Tercero undergraduate housing complex is located near the geographic center of the UC Davis campus, to the north of the Arboretum Waterway. This extends longitudinally through almost the entirety of the south end of campus. The Cuarto undergraduate freshmen and transfer students housing complex is located one block off-campus, across Russell Boulevard.

Unlike the other undergraduate housing complexes, Cuarto is located within city limits; its residents may vote in city elections. The entire University of California system is governed by the regents, a member board, as established under Article IX, Section 9 of the California Constitution.

A key feature of graduate education at UC Davis is the graduate group.

The core elements of a graduate group include an emphasis on "shared research interests among faculty and students; flexibility to grow and quickly change to reflect emerging areas of interdisciplinary knowledge and technology; and an acceptance that many research questions transcend traditional academic departmental boundaries.

Among the top five percent were graduate programs in Spanish, entomology, agricultural and resource economics, plant biology, ecology, and nutritional biology. Approximately one-third of UC Davis graduate programs ranked in the top 25 percent in their respective fields.

UC Davis is one of 62 members in the Association of American Universities , an organization of leading research universities devoted to maintaining a strong system of academic research and education. It consists of sixty universities in the United States both public and private and two universities in Canada. The Crocker Nuclear Laboratory on campus has had a nuclear accelerator since Agilent Technologies will also work with the university in establishing a Davis Millimeter Wave Research Center to conduct research into millimeter wave and THz systems.

Other than representing the student body on campus, the task of ASUCD is to lobby student interests to local and state government. ASUCD employs thousands of students [99] annually across its many units.

Bicyclists are ubiquitous around campus as well as the city, and thus a lot of bike-only infrastructure exists, such as bike circles, large bike lanes, and traffic signals exclusively for bikes and the UC Davis cycling team has won several national championship titles.

All bikes on the UC Davis campus must be registered with a California Bicycle license or they risk being sold at the on campus bike auction. UC Davis is also well known for its bus service, Unitrans , and its trademark London double decker buses. It has been in operation since and is believed to be the only general purpose non-sightseeing transit system in the U. The system is operated and managed entirely by students and offers fixed-route transportation throughout the city.

Davis is also one of the busiest stations of the Capitol Corridor intercity railroad service operated by Amtrak between the Bay Area and Sacramento. The central campus is bounded by freeways on two sides Highway and Interstate All other UC campuses are either somewhat distant from the closest freeway or are directly adjacent to only one freeway. Two freeway exits are entirely within UCD's boundaries. Easy freeway access, coupled with increasing housing costs in the city of Davis, have led to increased numbers of students commuting via automobile.

Some students choose to live in the neighboring communities of Sacramento , Dixon or Woodland , and use their own cars or the county-wide Yolobus to get to UC Davis. Initially, the Weekly Agricola was focused on both student news and farming-related topics. Novelist Jack London was one of the first readers of the Weekly Agricola.

Social fraternities and sororities have been a part of the University of California at Davis since The meetings are also used to inform the fraternities about all upcoming activities throughout the week. We were welcomed with a bowl of fruit and other goodies. The refrigerator and pantry had what we needed for a do-it-yourself breakfast of cereal and toast with cream cheese and jam. The pool is shared with their home and we were welcomed while she and her family were relaxing by the pool at the end of the day.

It was the perfect temperature. The place is on the edge of town with a feeling of being in the countryside. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again when coming to the Sacramento area. As soon as I arrived, I was shown around and offered freshly picked peaches from the fruit trees.

I felt very welcome as soon as I met Fawzia and Ash. The Guest house was a full 1 bedroom house with granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances. The house was very clean, clean sheets, floors, everything.

The neighborhood was a nice community with all upscale homes surrounding. I would love an opportunity to stay here again sometime soon.

What a beautiful place and even more beautiful hosts. We were honored to stay here. We will do it again! Three words for this location "Heaven on Earth". When I first pulled up to the home, I must admit it looked like an Exotic Palace Fawzia and her family were so kind and welcomed me with open arms.

The property itself is located in a peaceful quiet neighborhood and is surrounded by beautiful homes just like it.

The decor in their guests home was lavished and waking up to all of the exotic plants and the birds singing made me feel as if I was a "Princess in her royal suite" excuse my vivid imagination, LOL and having the beautiful heated pool right outside my door was definitely a plus and a cherry on top.

I would recommend this location to anyone visiting Sacramento and in need of rejuvenation, relaxation and A Slice of Heaven! The place was very clean, and spacious, and we even received goodies from the garden and great dinner restaurant recommendations!

A very comfortable and well described house. The hosts are very welcoming but not obtrusive. We would definitely stay again. This was our first use of airbnb and I hope all hosts are as helpful. The host communicated often, was very flexible on our arrival timing, and then followed up each day to make sure there wasn't anything we needed.

Really made us feel at home and treated us like members of the family. We had a wonderful stay and plan to return in the future. Perfectly quiet and peaceful, in contrast to the hustle and bustle of Sacramento. Listing was exactly as described! Well designed interior that was perfect for our needs. Briana, thank you for hosting me last weekend! We loved your cottage. Thank you as well for the flexibility with check in and check out. My stay was in a great residential neighborhood with food nearby and walking distance to midtown, where they have more food.

Did I say food? Briana has a comprehensive guide book to help with finding many points of interest. Cute, charming space close to everything we needed. Loved the sparkly lights in the courtyard at night. This place is even more adorable than the pictures show. It's easy to access the place, the outdoor space is amazing and great for morning coffee before checking out, and the hosts couldn't be friendlier. Lots of tips of what to do in the area, too. Just an overall phenomenal stay.

Briana was a great host, and I'd happily stay here again. I arrived late at night - getting in was a breeze thanks to great communication in advance. I was only here for one night, but I wish it were longer! The photos don't do justice to Briana's place!

The loft was far more spacious and equipped with all sorts of amenities, we were amazed by Briana's attention to detail in all aspects of the house and the garden. We didn't get to meet her due to a short overnight stay, but she was very accommodating and quick to respond to all our messages. Overall the stay was much more than we could've asked for. He is warm and friendly but will also give you plenty of space as you need. Everything was clean and comfortable.

Even the linens were extra soft, and the bed was so comfortable it was easy to get a good night's sleep before my interview. Location was great; quiet area and an easy minute walk to the medical center through a safe neighborhood.

Overall one of my best airbnb experiences. Jose was very welcoming and warm. His place is beautiful and very clean. The area is really cool as well; there are a bunch of cool shops and restaurants very close by. Jose has a beautiful home. When traveling I don't prefer to rent a room in a living space but Jose made the experience very smoothe, easy and welcoming.

Jose was a great and communicative host. He was welcoming and provided basic toiletries and water. The outlets in my room only worked intermittently. The location was great and within walking distance to some great shots and restaurants.

Awesome place, perfect for two. Clean and close to the local restaurants and shopping. Jose was friendly and accommodating, everything you might need is here! Took a little while to figure out how to get the pool and hot tub running but was great after that.

Wished there were a few more towels and such. The sprinklers consistently run out side making it a little muddy and susceptible to tracking mud in side. Everything went very smoothly with no complaints from us. Perfect for a weekend trip. Great place, easy to find, comfortable, and relaxing. Our car needed a jump and they were more than happy to help us out. Jovana was a great host, communication was smooth and appreciated! The location of the house was perfect for visiting Sacramento, would stay here again!

It was a nice modern loft in a really good part of Sacramento. The compound had a good vibe. Super cool place with an amazing pool and jacuzzi. We stayed with my parents, husband and three year old daughter. Everyone slept comfortably in nice air conditioning and loved the pool. I absolutely loved my stay. The loft is beautiful and i loved how easy it was to work with Jovana. There are only two actual beds, but the blow up bed under the stairs is really cute with the twinkle lights..

Enjoyed this space very much, it was clean, stylish, private, and comfortable! Misty's communication was excellent! Also appreciated the AC! Would stay here again! The cottage is a wonderful place to stay in Sacramento.

Minutes away from downtown, and so warm and inviting when you are there, that you almost forget that you are not at home. Lovely place to visit with great style and a cool neighborhood on Broadway. Misty was really helpful in recommending parks for our kids. My friend and I were on a long road trip through California and we had camped most of the way.

This was our first bed and shower of the trip and it was much more than we expected! There was wonderful bathroom products for us to use, coffee to make, and it is in such a cute area. I would love to stay here again:.

This was a perfect little side house we stayed at for a wedding weekend. Comfortable, clean, and even has a small kitchenette. Great for couples or close friends. Misty was a fantastic host and helped us with everything we needed. Check-in and check-out were a breeze. Hope to come back when in town again! Hands down the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in away from home. Thank you Mitsy for your hospitality. They were more than willing to help with anything you have questions with.

The place was super clean and had everything you need for a stay! The apartment is tiny, but very roomy and has everything you could possibly need. It was the perfect place for a getaway from reality without leaving town. I have nothing but positive things to say! This place is a great value.

The host, Karen is a very friendly person, extremely accommodating. I definitely felt at home here, and will make a point to stay again.

Karin's place is a gem. It's a nice private studio with everything we needed. I liked the Twin-Peaks-themed room also. It was overall a great experience. It is such a cute and cozy studio!

We appreciate that Karin checked in with us when we arrived to make sure we had everything we needed. Karin also was kind enough to offer us a late checkout since we checked in late. Would definitely come back if we are in the area again! We booked at the last minute, and Karin got back to me by phone as requested the same day, which we appreciated. We liked that it was in a neighborhood with secure parking off the street.

The apartment was fine for an overnight stay, but we would need a full kitchen for more than a night. The bed was comfortable. We enjoyed chatting with Karin's mom the next morning, and taking a walk around the neighborhood in the morning was very pleasant.

Proximity to the American River Parkway was a plus. We drove over there and walked around and enjoyed seeing the river. I would definitely stay again, if only for an overnighter.

We appreciated Karin checking in with us the afternoon we arrived to see if everything was to our liking. All in all a good experience! Great spot; quiet, comfortable, fun theme. Karin did a great job of making us welcome and kept in contact. I Highly recommend Room for anyone looking for a quiet, secluded, and unique experience. You get your own personal parking space, backyard, and apartment. Over grown trees in front of the patio makes you feel like you can sit there all day and clear your mind.

Don't hesitate to pick this spot over anyone else in the area. Mark was a great host. A lot of homeless people. I just wish our cars were able to be in a gate. I scheduled my trip to Sacramento very last-minute, and Mark quickly confirmed my request same-day.

My stay was short, but everything went smoothly. I never got to meet Mark, but my friend that joined me on the trip met him briefly on her way out one morning. She said he was pleasant and hospitable. He did have some friends over one night of our visit and we didn't even really notice because we were watching movies on the awesome HD TV.

Yards got some stuff around it but didn't spend much time outside. Dreher's place is definitely a place to stay if it is more than 3. We had a party of 8. It was nice being so close to midtown close to all the action. As promised, the house is located near Downtown and with that comes a variety of urban noise expected. This space was not as comfortable or relaxing as I had hoped. I really enjoyed my stay. It was less than half of a mile from the convention center and capitol.

I enjoyed the neighborhood as well. Very clean and comfy. The place was really great and centrally located. They even put out a couple of snacks and goodies for us which we appreciated. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to stay in Downtown Sac! James was a great host and was very helpful throughout my stay. The apartment is in a great location and I would love to stay another time. Very nice two bedroom space in a quiet neighborhood that is close to everything in Mid-Town Sacramento.

Shelby also provided a parking pass which is a plus if you are parking on the street to avoid receiving tickets. I always enjoy my stay at Kris' place. I've stayed there several times and I'm booked for future stays as well: We really enjoyed staying at Kris' place.

We were visiting friends that live just a couple blocks away, so the location was great for us. We were on a cross-country road trip with our dog, Halley, and Kris was very accommodating. Highly recommend this host and her place! Kris's home is in a leafy cul de sac that is nonetheless convenient to dining and shopping.

Even though there was no need Kris treated us to yummy pastries she baked that day. The dog is sweet, the coffee machine worked great and my husband and I watched some TV channels that were new to us. All in all a great experience.

I absolutely loved my stay with Kris and Kemo. I was in town for a research conference at the Lions Gate Hotel and Kris' home was an easy drive to the location. Her home is located in a very nice and quiet neighborhood with lots of beautiful homes and feels very safe.

Kris was incredibly flexible with my multiple last minute changes to my check-in time and responded very quickly to my messages. When I arrived, she happily greeted me and gave me a tour of the room. Everything is exactly as shown in the photos. I love that the private entrance was bluetooth activated.

The room was clean, spacious, and very private. The shared bathroom was very clean as well. The towels provided looked brand new and she even had extra soaps and shampoo ready just in case I forgot my own. She had a binder full of tips of places to see and eat as well as a refresher on the house rules.

Kris was clearly ready to give me my privacy, which I usually prefer, but I quickly fell in love with her dog. I ended spending an hour or so on my last night talking to Kris about fostering and training dogs and petting Kemo her dog. I had fantastic time and really felt like I made a friend during this trip. I would definitely book again and try to carve out some more time to get to know Kris and Kemo.

This was the first bnb experience for both myself and my wife and it didn't disappoint. Kris's place is in a quiet and nice neighborhood. Kris is a good host who provided us all that we could have possibly needed. She also introduced us to her dog. There was a private entrance to the room.

The room was cozy with a half bath. The bathroom was shared but really nice and had lots of towels. My wife loved that Kris had Netflix and the bed was nice and very comfortable. Kris also cared enough to provide Keurig with coffee and tea, and chocolates in the room.

We had such a great 1st time experiance with airbnb Kris was exceptional with responding promptly every question we had being that this was our first time using the app.

On arrival Kris was very inviting and showed us around her home and also had great guides on check in and check out and things to do in the area. We were not able to visit with Kris till the last day being that we are quite people but when talking to her we had wished to visitef with her more. The room is exactly what you see in the picture very tranquil and relaxing.

Having its own private door was also very helpful with my husband having to work at nights. Kris was also very welcoming to our service dogs and her dog kimo was so quite. We for sure hope to book at the end of june again. I would recommend Kris to anyone that is staying in the sacramento area. Bonus plus was also the netflix and keyless lock! Thanks for allowing us to stay Kris! Excellent experience with Kris. She was welcoming and easy to chat with.

The room was well maintained and clean. It's a great location to make it into the city along with plenty of amenities nearby. Highly recommend staying here. The bed was big and comfy, the restroom in the bedroom was a plus. Kris was very communicative and welcoming!! Janet's cozy cottage was lovely and exactly what we were looking for.

Quiet and spacious for the 2 of us. Completely recommend and will see if it is available the next time we are out there. Janet is great and her place is perfect for a quick stay in town. Lots of special touches and I totally broke the diet and had the mint patties - thank you!

Janet's guest house or "cozy cottage" is perfect for a simple but comfy retreat. The neighborhood has a lot of character and was nice to take a stroll in at night. If you'd like to stay a bit outside the city and be rewarded with a great host, good value and a comfy clean lil place to yourself - this is your spot! Janet's place met our needs perfectly. We would stay again when in the area. Steps away from Midtown bars and restaurants. The room is a small studio, but perfect for a person who wants to be central.

Definitely an old funky building that smells of cigarette smoke, but neighbors are very friendly and area is safe. Loved being in the heart of Sacramento! Great place to stay in downtown Sacramento. The location is near everything there is to offer in downtown Sacramento. There was even a parking pass and finding street parking was a breeze. I would recommend this place to anyone. Great place - very comfy bed, nice shower - clean with good amenities - no TV but good internet.

The coffee shop right across the alley is awesome. Great location, cozy little place. I never dealt with Sam, but his friend Charles made checking in and out very easy. Walk out the door to a great coffee place. Great for a quick stay when you just need a place to shower and sleep.

Jaafar was a very accommodating and communicative host! I also thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The bed and pillows were incredibly comfortable. The dogs were cute and friendly as well! Will definitely remember Jaafar on my way through Sac again. Jaafar is an awesome host! I would definitely stay with him again! Plus, his dog, Bru, is super friendly! Jaafar's place is great. It's in a great area close to lots of restaurants and bars. You're close to the lightrail too. The place is really clean, and comes with two super cute dogs!

You have access to a shared fridge, bathroom, and TV. Great price, and Jaafar is really responsive of emails. Easy check in, quick reply from host, plenty of parking. First, put your overall star score because Airbnb does not show this for some reason. Then, the length of your stay. Then, list the pros. Then, list the cons. It is as simple as that. Lisa gets five out of five stars from us. My son and I stayed six nights so he could attend a program at Sacramento State.

Checkin was easy, with Lisa asking for an estimate of when we were arriving so she could be available to handle any initial questions. The place was less than ten minutes from Sac State by car, even though there was construction, so the location for us was ideal! Lisa's home was tastefully decorated, well-appointed, sparkly clean, comfortable, and everything worked.

The wifi was fast and great, which we needed for son's homework. Having a desk was important, again for the homework. I saw the nearby home construction that some people mentioned as a source of noise.

It might have been briefly just perceptible one morning when I was home, but it wasn't disruptive at all. The bed in the master bedroom has a very soft pillow top. The bed in the second bedroom has a firmer mattress, so son and I argued a bit over who got to have the second bedroom. We really enjoyed our stay. Lisas place was a great fit for us to visit family in Sacromento.

We are an older british couple visiting from the UK and would highly recomend Lisas place to any overseas visiter. Lisa was the most hospitable host I've ever experienced on Airbnb. Check in was super easy and the apartment was immaculate.

Lisa was so quick to repond and willing to help. Internet was fast and the bed was comfortable. The apartment was close to midtown and great food. Lisa's place was all that we expected.. Clean, Beautiful, Friendly neighbors, Communication was great, felt like home Our Home Away from Home.. Will definitely know where to stay when we're back in town.. This place was so cute! Lisa was such a considerate host, and so attentive to any and all questions I had.

There were a few small things I had questions about, and all questions were answered immediately. The house interior was stylish, with thoughtful touches extra pillows, coffee, basic toiletries, local tips.

Even though this is an attached duplex, I never heard the neighbors from inside the house. I would definitely recommend! Very new Airbnb so feel it out as it is well put together.

Super clean, easy check in, and most of all a nice comfy bed! Fantastic room for the price. The hosts were great! We were oh so comfy and cozy! We definitely will be back! This is great place to stay when visiting Sacramento.

The ensuite room is a great size, very comfortable and clean. It has shops and restaurants close by and is only a short walk over the bridge to the main city, including the historic buildings etc. I would definitely recommend it.

The hosts were quick to respond to any questions. Rachelle and Nick were great hosts! They were very responsive to our messages and provided great recommendations for food and drinks around the area.

The space was very clean and comfortable and the coffee and snacks were a great touch. Room and bathroom was clean and stylish, comfy bed! Nick and Rachelle were very nice. Close to downtown Sacramento and old town Sacramento.. My husband enjoyed his stay - he had an intensive class in the area. This place had everything he needed for his 3 day stay, with a bonus rain shower! It's close to several restaurants and stores, and pleasantly away from noise of the street.

He would definitely stay here again if he has class in the area! I would live here if I could. This a comfortable, quiet, private little nook in a beautiful backyard in midtown. Super comfy bed with a heated mattress!! The unit has concrete floors which are a little chilly in the morning so would recommend socks or slippers. Otherwise an easy, fantastic stay with a great host.

Would definitely stay here again. Mattias is a great host, very responsive. Great place for an individual to stay for an extended period of time I stayed for 5 weeks. Nice location in midtown, can walk to a lot of coffee shops and restaurants. Thanks for a great stay! It was a pleasure to find this little gem, as it provided a quiet, very clean and welcoming atmosphere while traveling north to Portland.

I travel often and appreciate a place such as this "Retreat" and recommend it highly for those seasoned travelers who are prepared for nice accommodations Mattias is a responsive and considerate host and thank him for providing this listing He did not interact with us much, but it was perfect.

We were in and out of the place without any problems. Our pets loved it and the area was perfect for them. Close to the freeway, stores, and any parks. Skye, the dog, was so much fun to play with and really was a ball of joy. I would definitely love to stay here again. Completely pleasant and easy stay. All Mattias's instructions for check in and check out were totally clear and straightforward. The neighborhood is cute and quiet, and the apartment is very sweet. Mattias is a superb host.

We stayed for 2 weeks and at all times he was quick to reply to questions, generous and friendly. He even let us park our bikes in his garden over the weekend!
