Because my 92 year old Mother complained about the bumpy wheelchair ride all the way from the furthest part of the overflow car park until we got on the tarmac path.

Pushing was hard work. We didn't see any blue-badge parking spaces. It's tiny and dark and has a very limited range. Tea comes in a cardboard non-insulated cup. Prices however are moderate. Couldn't get ice cream etc at 2: There are two dustbins. One was about four inches overflowing, with the lid placed on top of the extra rubbish. See "my 92 year old Mother" above. In the whole visit we passed only two posted you-are-here maps.

There are very few signs saying "Species X is yards down here". There's no-one to ask inside the compound, except in the gift shop. I was reluctant to ask salespople about where the big cats were, but in fact one of them knew and I got directions and found the cats.

This was a near miss: I asked a question about which way to go at the cash desk on entry. The person made it clear by her facial expression that she thought this was a stupid question. We had to wait at an electrically-released gate 5 yards away to get in, and she didn't release it until I went back to ask her to; I presume this was to teach me a lesson. When you pay you get a print-out with 16 bullet points of how to behave.

This zoo is bigger then people think when you get inside you realise how big it is and they are making more enclosures, animals range from cheetah lion zebra meerkat birds reindeer camel ect there is a large play park for kids and a train to go around zoo also more animals around car park area plus awsome viewing areas both our daughters loved it and both under 4yrs old. Excellent - thank you very much, we are very pleased to receive your review. This is the second time we have been to the park in the last 18 months.

The first time was in the winter so there was not a lot to see because a lot of the African animals preferred to stay inside in the warm. This time we were not disappointed. The animals were out in force and we had plenty to see. We arrived at and stayed until without feeling bored or spending too much time milling about with nothing to do. The new tiger enclosure is awesome. As are all the new tigers. It was sad to hear Ladybelle passed away as we had been looking forward to seeing her again.

However they do seem to be doing a wonderful job with their new tigers who have the most brilliant enclosure I have seen at any zoo I have been to.

The feeding time talk was excellent and my kids really enjoyed hearing about the Malaysian and Bengal tigers and were shocked at how close to extinction they are. My only gripe was the "cafe" or rather the place where they appear to warm up frozen supermarket pizza in a microwave. With a park as big and well kept as Hamerton it was a big let down to see that the catering facilities don't appear to have been updated since the late 80s when the place opened. The staff were friendly enough but the food was shocking!

Even the sandwiches were dry and tasteless. I'm really looking forward to coming back again next year and seeing the new meerkat enclosure and the tigers again. This time however I will be bringing a picnic. Thank you for your review. Just to explain about our catering Our sandwiches are delivered daily by a local specialist supplier and are of very good quality.

We have used the same people for many years and do not intend to change, as all others such as national firms like Ginsters are not as good, and more expensive. We keep a varied selection, but all are popular basic lines.

We are sorry that you did not find a filling to your taste, but we have to consider that some people complain because these are not plain enough! Our children's pizzas are standard Dr Oetker lines in a choice of 2 toppings. Many people microwave these, so ours are no different. Our adult lines, like jacket potatoes with various fillings and paninis ditto are freshly prepared to order. We have plans for a much larger new cafe building for , but the range of food will stay the same - unless you can be more positive and recommend something different rather than just complaining about a couple of lines that we have now.

We will always try something new if it can be sourced. But please remember that we are ethically opposed to the huge levels of waste produced by most such cafes, and will not offer something only to throw away most of it un-sold. We have to balance huge variation in visitor numbers, where we may have people one day and the next, and everyone expects instant service with minimal queues and is not prepared to wait for food to be freshly cooked. What else do you suggest?

We enjoyed a walk around, there are plenty of animals to keep you busy looking at, i think the fact it has tigers is what sells it the best. They have no options for children We expected a kids sandwich box etc but nothing at all. I complained to the girl serving and asked her if she thought these prices were right and she said "I have no say over prices" I said no but you do have an opinion, she said she'd tell her manager.

We sat down on one of the only two family tables and after about 5 minutes a man walked in and complains to the girl behind the till about the prices, so clearly this isn't just my personal opinion. We saw so many family's outside having picnics afterwards and really wished we'd have brought our own picnic and would have enjoyed the day a whole lot better.

So either be prepared to pay a lot or take your own. Other reviews do not agree with you! To correct your review - our sandwiches arrive daily from a specialist local supplier, and they are NOT discounted loss-leader economy supermarket ones as you state. To compare such is insulting. Our chocolate and crisps are standard packs NOT small ones as you state and are cheaper than most such outlets.

We have tried children's boxes, but there is no demand and most were thrown away un-sold, effectively raising the prices of other items. It is unfortunate that the TripAdvisor system does not require the reviewer to tell the truth We would expect that this will eventually discredit their web-site.
