Iron River, WI | Things to Do | Travel Wisconsin

The great deck overlooking the lake can't be beat! We cooked a lot here, and it was well fitted for all we needed. We have a one year old, and the only thing we needed to watch him on were the stairs.

Richard and Jennifer were laid back, very available and responsive hosts and I knew that if we had a question they would get back to me in a heartbeat. However, I only ever had one question because they thought of most everything ahead of time. Would recommend staying at Richard and Jennifer's place to anyone considering it!

Rich and Jen were very considerate and accommodating hosts! Will definitely be booking with them again in the future! Stunning lakeside property in the calm of Solon Springs, WI. The well appointed cabin is essentially brand new and with all the usual sorts of mod-cons that you need whilst away. Well located near the town and lots of choices for meals out. Definitely will return again. Richard and Jennifer are very hospitable, knowledgeable hosts. They made sure that everything was taken care of and responded quickly when we had questions.

We look forward to staying with them again in the future. It isn't always easy to find a place that accepts the 4 legged family members, so we were thrilled when we found Mission Springs, and it was a great place for all of us! We were fortunate enough to meet Katie and a couple of her kids on our stay. We learned a lot about the property and it's history, which was really neat!

The cabins are cute, clean and in a great location. Everything you need for a 'home away from home' stay. And the ice cream was delish!! We will stay again for sure! Thanks Katie and family! This was a quaint, vi0ntage cottage. It had all the charm one would expect in a lakeside cottage and the modern updates to make for a comfortable stay.

My only suggestion, thin timber along shoreline to reveal beautiful Lake Superior. Thanks for the yummy ice cream treat! Great cottage space as advertised!! Easily accessible, very clean, comfortable, and accommodating. The wi-fi connection was inconsistent at times, but wasn't too much a problem as we were out and about exploring most days. We were a little bummed about noise from the nearby road, but it's certainly not a deal breaker.

The local ice cream is phenomenal, do not pass this up!!! Would recommend to anyone looking for a getaway, we had a nice time checking out Ashland, Bayfield, and Cornucopia! First, Katie was super helpful with coordinating our booking of the place and staying in touch. The cabins are very nice and in a beautiful location right on Lake Superior. We had a larger group renting 3 separate cabins and had an amazing time coming together on the property for games and bonfires.

We really appreciated that wood was provided for the fires. The access to the lake was also very convenient for pulling up our canoes and fishing boat. Lastly the cabins were very clean and cute! The local ice cream from Tetzners Diary was a welcome surprise when checking in. She communicates very well and has a great knowledge of the area. This place is a beautiful setting. We were four adults and a baby and had plenty of room.

We were only there for one night but it was perfect for us. We stayed at Josh's place at peak fall colors and it was just gorgeous!

The views and house were a great place for our north woods get away. We took dirt roads for about minutes so expect added drive time to restaurants or to surrounding towns. Hiking trails right at your door step. The house was very clean and comfortable. We'd love to stay again next time we come to this area.

Everything we needed for a comfortable stay. This place is very new and has a fresh trendy feel. It was clean and welcoming. The back porch was a relaxing place to drink our morning coffee and listen to the babbling brook. I would definitely stay here again. An absolutely gorgeous cabin! On the drive out we saw a few deer, a turkey vulture, and lots of rabbits.

You wake up to gorgeous views of the trees, and can walk out onto the deck next to a lazy river to drink your coffee. It is very secluded about a 25 minute drive to the closest town with shops and restaurants , and is a perfect forrest getaway for people that hate camping. The cabin is very clean, and has a breezy feel. Bed is super comfortable, and the kitchen is perfect for cooking your own meals. Beautiful cabin in secluded woods. Cross country ski right out your front door.

New construction so the place is very clean. Bathrooms could have been cleaner and I would have liked some amenities like soap in the shower or hand towels in the bathroom and kitchen. Overall a good experience. Very clean cottage that is very well kept inside and out. Great view from the back deck. Isolated, down 7 miles of gravel road, I'd suggest bringing food, going into town is a trek. While we were there not one car drove past and we saw no other people.

This place is incredible! Beautiful cabin in a beautiful area, super great host, and just overall incredible experience! You will love your stay here.

This is a hidden gem! The view from the porch was wonderful, and there were not people for as long as you could see. There were 3 good size rooms for sleeping - make sure to spring a face mask for the light in the bedrooms.

Josh was great at communication and helping us out anyway needed. This place is a great find in the beautiful north woods of Wisconsin. The original log cabin has been nicely restored and remodeled and we loved it. It's very comfortable and Mary keeps it spotless clean. The small lake is clear and clean but because we were in the area for Tall Ships Duluth we didn't have time to enjoy boating.

Mary is a good and helpful communicator and we appreciated that in our planning. It's a great place to retreat and we hope to be back again. Very quiet cabin on a small lake with beautiful views! We enjoyed the provided water crafts, the comfortable beds, and the many games and dvds. The screened-in porch was a dream. Mary's place was the perfect spot for our anniversary getaway. We wanted to "unplug" for a few days and we were able to do just that!

The cute little cabin in the woods was well-kept and comfortable. We loved the screen porch. We tried out the canoe for a nice trip around Spider Lake, which was a very serene lake. We were only an hour from Bayfield where we went sea kayaking in the caves in Apostle Islands Nationals park through Living Adventures outfitters.

We also took the ferry to Madeline Island from Bayfield and had dinner. The next night we drove about half hour to Ashland for a nice dinner there.

On our way to Mary's place the first day, we stopped off in Duluth. We liked the location of her place - definitely pretty secluded, yet only a couple miles to the small town of Iron river and an hour or less to other destinations.

Thanks for a great stay, Mary! We would definitely come again sometime! Mary was an excellent host. Check in timely and perfect; and it was cool to hear the story of the cabin and how her family built it and restore it. Anybody looking for a getaway destination and a place to relax should definitely keep Mary in consideration.

Steps away from the lake and everything you need to kayak, canoe or bike. More like a home than cabin! The screened porch was such a bonus! Enjoyed morning coffee and most meals there, like being outside without! A little piece of heaven is how we would describe our week long stay at the log cabin on Spider Lake. The beautifully restored log cabin exceeded our expectations.

We enjoyed the early morning and evening kayak trips around the lake Truly a wonderful getaway to enjoy nature. We would love to return next year. Our stay at the cabin on Spider Lake was awesome! Mary was very quick to reply back to my questions and she even allowed us to check in a bit early. Mary met us upon arrival and she was able to show us around the property and give us some pointers on where to go for eats and sights.

This cabin had a lot of great features, including: The two bedrooms and bathroom were a bit tight but more than acceptable for our stay. The living room and kitchen area was nice and open. The covered screened in porch was also very nice and big and in the summer, it can extend the living area to the outside without being bit up by the bugs.

Iron River was very close, only about an 8 minute drive. The town has a couple gas stations, a grocery store and a couple of restaurants and a winery. The only downside was no WiFi and next to zero service through Verizon and Sprint providers at the cabin.

However, our stay was only 3 days so that wasn't a huge deal. All in all, our stay at the cabin was great and we'd definitely come back! We had an amazing time at Debbie's place. The cabin was the perfect balance of rustic and modern.

We had a great time boating and relaxing, and in the days we left the cabin we had a short trip to some great hiking at local state parks.

We highly recommend Debbie's place for a relaxing time away. The home was beautiful. Short 30 or so min travel to Duluth. It was the perfect place for us to retreat to relax after our run. Debbie was an awesome host. Giving us tips about the marathon. Would love to stay longer next time.

Accommodations were top notch! Great location and place on the water. Spacious loft and huge windows! All one room, so travel with similar sleep patterns Wi-Fi was sporadic but we weren't there for internet. Debbie is an awesome host!! Debbie was an incredible host. The cabin beyond exceeded my expectations.

Dishes, towels, soap, and any little thing we may have forgotten. It was perfect, peaceful, and everything we needed for a weekend away. It was peaceful and secluded. If you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of life, this is the place. A perfect spot to unplug and get back in touch with nature. A short drive to Superior or Duluth but far enough away that it was a perfect get away.

Debbie goes above and beyond with her hospitality. The house was spotless. She was very accommodating and provided recommendations for local activities and things to eat. A great place to recharge.

Our stay by far exceed our expectations. Debbie is extremely hospitable, friendly, thoughtful, responsive, helpful and accommodating. The place was sparkling clean and everything you can think of was provided.

She went far and beyond when we asked for extra, like using her fire pit, and things we did not - like setting up lawn chairs on the lake, so we can enjoy the view even a toddler chair for our 2 year old son. We fell in love with the place and the hostess and would love to make it our family tradition to come back every year. Tom was a great host. He gave us suggestions on where to eat and what to do in Ashland. His home was very cozy.

The beds were comfortable, and we had everything we needed for our stay. He had breakfast food for us too, including coffee and tea. He also had a very friendly dog and cat.

Tom was a very welcoming, knowledgeable host. The accommodations were just as described, and we really enjoyed our stay! Great place to stay in the country. Tom was very friendly and accommodating. Maya dog and Panda cat were super sweet and made our stay feel like home. Tom was a warm, friendly and accommodating host. We appreciated the cleanliness of his home and his knowledge of the area.

His home is situated just far enough from town to feel secluded, but close enough to be convenient. We would most definitely recommend Tom's place to anyone traveling in the Ashland area. A wonderful place, close to parks, close to the lake, but far enough away that one can avoid the buzz of fellow tourists: We didn't get to spend much time at Tom's house but from what I saw it was very nice.

If youre looking for quiet, country feel this is the place. We are possibly going to be in the area later this year and would definitely consider staying there again. So the weekend started with us being SUPER late getting to Toms's house like almost 1am and when we got there the power had just gone out.

They had a pretty rough storm just pass through a few minutes prior and keep in mind that this was our first time using airbnb But Tom never missed a beat and made us feel comfortable right away. The room was clean and in the morning it was amazing to wake up to birds singing and complete silence.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are already planning to come back this winter and bring snowmobiles and possibly another couple to stay in his other bedroom. If you need to escape from the city for a few days I would definitely recommend Toms place: The cottage was super cozy and comfy. We had a very rainy day and were stuck inside so we were able to enjoy the yummy ice cream in the freezer and disconnect from our hectic lives.

The host was very responsive, communicative, and accessible. Spent our wedding anniversary here since we love the area - lots of nice woodland and lakeshore hiking in the area. The little blue cottage has two rooms that each have big windows that can be opened to enjoy the woods and lake - when there's a tide, you can lay in bed in listen to the water: Full nice kitchen, and a small flat screen with cable tv if you feel like it.

Didn't have time to use the firepit, wood, and grill - but such nice things to offer their guests. Also, such a thoughtful touch leaving a treat in the freezer for us! Also, just north of Washburn is another great restaurant, Good Thymes Cafe - which never disappoints every time we dine there.

Besides that, the cabin boasts lake shore access, nice distance from other cabins, and friendly folks who manage the place. We definitely plan to stay here again when in the area! Thank you so much for a wonderful ladies weekend! Your cabins are incredibly cute. You have the most beautiful small little touches such as nice hand soap or fluffy towels. And your help with navigating home through the washed out roads was immensely impressive.

It is clear you care deeply about your guests and their experience at your cabin resort. We will definitely be back!! I am already missing taking my morning coffee lake side. I stayed in Cottage 12 and it was wonderful. You can heard the sound of the lake when in bed at night. I can't say enough good things about this place. You will love it! We stayed in this cabin at Mission Springs for a quick family get away with our two children: Our dog was able to join us too, which was a bonus.

It was everything we had hoped for and more. We felt right at home in the cabin, and appreciated the simple yet cozy decor. The kitchen was stocked with the necessary cookware and appliances. We were thrilled to find an ice cream treat in the fridge and coffee available in the cabinet. It was nice to have the option of internet access available right from the cabin One of the beaches was right down the hill next to this cabin.

The beach was beautiful, quiet, and secluded. The water was nice, calm, and shallow enough for the kids play, wade, and fish. Nohl live on site. They were just a phonecall away if we needed anything. We got to talk to Jay and he was very friendly. It was nice to hear a bit more about the story behind the property and his family.

The cabin was an easy drive to both Ashland and Bayfield. We explored both, but everyone agreed that just relaxing at Mission Springs was the highlight of our trip. Our only regret was that we did not plan a longer stay.
